The Analysis and Applications TSC has their first meeting planned for the last week of January 2003 in Melbourne Florida. Most of you have given Wes Marshall (Chair) the required data for the membership roster. However, he is still seeking a vice chair for the
Wes also notes:
We currently have two documents that need our attention. As you know, we have responsibility of reviewing (and creating) the example sets for the various Z136 standards. The draft ANSI Z136.4 has been sent out as a sub committee draft for vote(SCDV). The due date for comments has passed (referring to the SSC-4), but the example section still needs our review.
Generally, this step has to be done after the main body of the standard has pretty well been finished. The Z136.4 looks pretty good, and will probably pass the SSC-4 subcommittee with some changes. The next step is to send it out for a Committee document for vote (CDV) once comments from the subcommittee have been incorporated. We, as a technical subcommittee, need to give the example section a good review before this next step. This review includes reviewing the current examples and adding any others
that are necessary.
A subcommittee draft for vote (SCDV) for the main Z136 standard is currently being worked, and should be out shortly. That standard also has an extensive example section, as most of you know. The main change to the new version of the Z136.1 from the 2000 version will be the inclusion of a new classification scheme which will closely match the current IEC 60825-1.2. No examples have been currently added or modified to the existing standard.
